Relieving Burning Upper Back Pain with Herbs

 

Burning upper back pain is experienced by most people at some point during their lives. The reason for this burning upper back pain is usually associated with sitting in an unsupportive chair for hours, poor posture, or even stress.  While the pain is often very hard to deal with, this pain can be cured relatively easily. 

Herbs 

Using herbs for burning upper back pain is a great idea as there are many that are effective in treating it. One of the best choices is devil’s claw. The reason for this is that it is a natural anti-inflammatory herb and using it three times a day should provide relief from the pain. Ge Gen Tan is another herb that can be used to relieve the burning upper back pain; in fact it has been used in  China to treat back pain for hundreds of years.

White willow is another good choice as it is all natural but has the effects of ibuprofen.  While these herbs are very helpful in the treatment of burning upper back pain, you should always check with your doctor to ensure that the herbs will not have any adverse effects.

Oils 

Natural oil massages help many people overcome their burning upper back pain.  If you are not sure what to use, you should start with flaxseed oil or even emu oil.  Emu oil is especially well liked because when massaged it actually warms the skin. When you use these beneficial oils with the motions of massage, oil can be a wonderful treatment for the burning upper back pain that we all suffer from at some point in our lives. 

Stretches 

Stretches are a great way to cure burning upper back pain.  You can do stretches anywhere, anytime to help relieve the pain.  Extended the arms overhead will loosen the shoulder and upper back areas, and rolling the shoulders will also provide the relief you are looking for.  Another effective stretch is where you arch the shoulders forward and then backward until the blades touch. 

Heat and Cold 

Heat and cold pads are also very helpful.  These are sold in stores and are very convenient and should be placed on the affected area.  Cold should be applied first and then heat. 

Yoga and Pilates 

Yoga and Pilates are a great way to cure burning upper back pain.  This is a long term treatment that will keep the back well adjusted and stretched so that the burning back pain is not an issue.  The overall improvement in posture will help to keep back pain from returning at all.
